Leesburg, Florida - 2013 NFL Hall of Fame finalist and six-time First Team Pro Bowl Oakland Raider punter Ray Guy will be the special guest of Ro-Mac Lumber & Supply, Inc. at the Home Builders Association of Lake and Sumter Counties’ “Old West, New Horizons” home show on Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Wildwood Community Center located at 6500 CR 139.
Don Magruder, the CEO of Ro-Mac Lumber said, “Ray Guy is the greatest NFL punter in history and he played on three Super Bowl Champion Oakland Raider teams.” Magruder added, “We are pleased he will spend three hours at our home show meeting fans, signing autographs, taking pictures, and talking football.” The meet and greet is free and open to the public.
Ray Guy is a member of the NFL’s 75th anniversary All-Time team and he was the first punter ever drafted in the first round. Ray Guy is the reason why the punter hang time statistic was created, and in the 1976 Pro Bowl game, Guy’s punt struck the 90’ high video screen in the Louisiana Superdome. Ray Guy played college football at the University of Southern Mississippi and he is a member of the College Hall of Fame. Each year, America’s top collegiate punter is awarded the “Ray Guy Award”.
Former Oakland Raider Head Coach John Madden said, “Ray Guy is the best player to ever punt a football” and Joe Horrigan, Pro Football Hall of fame historian said, “He is the first punter you could look at and say, ‘He won games’.” For 14 seasons with the Oakland Raiders, Ray Guy dominated punting in the NFL and there is a major national push to have Guy to be the first punter enshrined in the NFL Hall of Fame.
The Lake-Sumter HBA “Old West, New Horizons” home show is open to the public, free admission, and the show’s hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Ray Guy will be at the Ro-Mac Lumber booth from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Autographs will be limited to one per guest.
